On the third day after the rain stopped, Lin Che found a letter at her door. It had no postmark.

Her name was written on the envelope in handwriting that looked like her own. Inside was a single sentence:

Tomorrow morning, don’t take the 7:40 train.

She set the letter on the table. Outside her window, the rain that had been gone for three days began to fall again.
